My Greatest Accomplishment
Developing a market intervention to scale value-based care. I’ve been deeply involved in creating a novel clinical trials incubator at Stanford, which aims to lead in a way that other institutions have not. Social impact incubators ask too much from founders: Sell your product and solve racism in the market. Institutions can and should shoulder the burden of change. Our incubator will reshape health care markets to be more equitable, instead of maintaining the status quo by just de-risking ventures for ROI.
How Drexel Helped Me
Drexel provided a well-rounded foundation for me. We live in interesting times, and our democracy is in such a fragile state. I’m deeply appreciative of the liberal education Drexel provided me that went beyond just having a career and has made me such an engaged citizen.
Where I Hope to Be in Five Years
Leading a university’s innovation ecosystem.
How I Pay It Forward
Practically: I volunteer on boards with compelling social impact business models and spend time with faculty and students developing their new health ventures. In the long term, I work towards dismantling structural inequities by way of our incubator. Philosophically: I am always thinking about who is not in the room and asking, “Why are they not here?” I work to get their ideas in the room now, as well as build programs towards ensuring they are actually there in the future.
