Family medicine physician, Geisinger Health System; Geisinger Kistler Family Medicine residency assistant program director; clinical assistant professor of family medicine, Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine; and president-elect, Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians

My Greatest Accomplishment:  This past year I had the privilege of being elected to the position of “president-elect” of the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP), starting my term as president in April 2022. I am humbled and honored to represent family physicians across the state. The PAFP is a physician-led organization committed to advancing quality healthcare for all Pennsylvanians through advocacy, education, workforce development and commitment to the patients we serve.  For over 70 years and with more than 6,000 physician, resident and student members, the academy and its foundation’s core values are visionary leadership, integrity and community.

How Drexel Helped Me:  As noted in the medical school’s mission statement, “Drexel University College of Medicine excels and innovates in education, research and delivery of compassionate care in our culture of diversity, spirited inquiry, collaboration and opportunity.” The training and leadership skills I acquired during my time at Drexel catapulted me to become a strong leader and advocate for my patients, my community and the health care profession.

My Greatest Source of Motivation:  My Catholic faith. One of my favorite quotes is by Saint Pope John Paull II, who stated, “Do not be afraid. Do not be satisfied with mediocrity. Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”

Where I Hope to Be in Five Years:  I hope to continue providing first-class, individualized, evidence-based, primary care to patients of all ages in both the hospital and ambulatory clinic settings. I also anticipate furthering my leadership roles within Geisinger Health System and various organized medicine bodies, working to address health care disparities on the state and national levels through advocacy and policy development.
