My Greatest Accomplishment: On a personal level, being a great husband and father. On a professional level, my greatest accomplishment thus far is becoming a senior scientist at GlaxoSmithKline, where I’ve gotten the chance to grow and evolve as a scientist. Navigating the industry has not always been easy, and I’ve had to take on jobs that fell short of my potential. But through hard work and perseverance, I’m proud to be where I am now.
How Drexel Helped: The education and lab-based technical experience I received were instrumental in helping me get where I am today. But going through the master’s degree program at Drexel helped beyond that; I learned what it meant to actually be a scientist. The hard work, tremendous amount of research, attention to detail, and collaborative spirit are all important lessons I gained through my time at Drexel. And of course, I wouldn’t be where I am today without the guidance and mentorship I received from faculty.
Where I’ll Be in Five Years: I expect to continue my career trajectory working in the pharmaceutical industry. I love to learn and take on new challenges, and I am always open to new and exciting opportunities.
“If I live to be 100, the change I’d most like to see in the world is…
no more suffering for patients and their families due to cancer. The field has made huge strides, but we have yet to achieve a cure — I hope to see that in my lifetime.” — Niyant Shah
