My Greatest Accomplishment: Winning the 2019 Distinguished Healthcare Diversity Advocate award from the Tri-State Diversity Council [a regional branch of the nonprofit National Diversity Council, which advocates for the benefits of multiculturalism among the private, public and nonprofit sectors]. The award is symbolic affirmation of my dedication to the elimination of health disparities that disproportionately affect disenfranchised and underserved patients.
How Drexel Helped: Drexel was pivotal in solidifying my career path as a health equity leader. Learning evidence-based approaches to address public health challenges and completing a competitive health disparities fellowship provided the essential skills to successfully lead various impactful health initiatives.
Where I’ll Be in Five Years: I plan to provide my expertise as a consultant on innovative clinical education initiatives for health organizations. I would like to infuse social determinants of health principles into their clinical education programs to ensure the next generation of clinicians have the knowledge and skills to provide equitable and high-quality health care to patients and their families.
“If I live to be 100, the change I’d most like to see in the world is…
significant improvement in health outcomes for traditionally underserved patients. With persistent dedication and hard work, I believe we can eradicate inconsistent access to health care and work towards achieving health equity in the next 70 years.” — Brittany M. Chambers
