Triple Dragon Viren Doshi is thriving in a field that combines all of three of his Drexel degrees. As corporate counsel and compliance officer at Silver Cross Health System in New Lenox, Illinois, he handles legal matters, contracts, governance, compliance issues, patient privacy — all with an eye toward a greater good.

“I enjoy improving patient care and healthcare delivery behind the scenes, and keeping patients safe.”
Viren Doshi

Known as a collaborator, Doshi serves as a trusted advisor to clinical and operational leaders, translating complex legal and regulatory requirements into practical, mission‑driven solutions. "Starting in biological sciences and cancer research, I learned how much discipline it takes to earn reliable answers — and how easily people can talk past each other when they don’t share the same assumptions or definitions," he says. "As I moved deeper into health care and pursued a JD/MPH, I realized the most meaningful change happens when someone can translate between viewpoints: clinical urgency, operational realities, legal constraints and ethical obligations. Over time, I’ve made that translation role a core strength." His expertise has allowed him to shape conversations and outcomes far beyond his organization. He is the incoming chair of the Early Careers Professional Council at the American Health Law Association (AHLA), where he leads initiatives supporting emerging professionals in health law. He previously held leadership roles in AHLA’s Fraud and Abuse Practice Group, and served as chair of the Health Law Section of the South Asian Bar Association. He has lectured at Thomas Jefferson University, contributed to publications with Harvard Law School and the University of Pennsylvania, and co-authored a book chapter on patient safety. His Drexel experiences were key to getting him to where he is now, with the dual-degree program in law and public health helping to open professional doors. Professors Robert Field and Barry Furrow at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law helped him make contacts in the field, and Drexel’s co-op program and experiential learning approach empowered him to bring his career aspirations to life. “Drexel has extremely strong connections to help students get internships, co-ops and other experiential opportunities,” he affirms. “Without those opportunities, I would not have been able to get to where I am.”

In his own words…

My Greatest Accomplishment:

One of my proudest accomplishments is building bridges between disciplines — first at Drexel and now in my professional and community work. I’ve always been drawn to work that lives between silos. I’ve made it a continued goal take complex issues, create a common language for the stakeholders involved, and turn that shared understanding into practical next steps. What I’m proud of is not just resolving the issue in front of us, but building trust and momentum so teams can handle future challenges with more clarity and less friction. That bridge-building mindset continues to shape how I lead and advise.

How Drexel Shaped My Path:

Drexel shaped my path by combining rigorous academics with hands-on experience and interdisciplinary learning. The JD/MPH program and the co-op program trained me to evaluate challenges through both a legal and public health lens in real-life situations, and the experiential opportunities strengthened my ability to work across different parts of the health care ecosystem. Drexel also gave me the opportunity, confidence and platform to take myself out of my comfort zone to build transferrable skills and drive practical solutions. Those skills remain central to how I approach health care and legal leadership today.

Where I Hope To Be in Five Years:

I hope to be a trusted leader in a broader capacity helping shape the direction of our health system — bringing clarity to complex decisions and strengthening a culture of compliance. I hope to have built a culture where raising issues early is rewarded and legal helps teams move faster and safer. DM
