PARTNER, BAKER & HOSTETLER LLP

Sara Goldstein of Baker & Hostetler LLP is an alumna honoree of Drexel Magazine's 40 Under 40 Class of 2026.

Sara Goldstein helps big institutions get back on their feet after suffering the fallout of a cyberattack.

When a ransomware attack shuts down a university network or a health system is under regulatory investigation for alleged violations of data security laws, organizations often turn to Sara Goldstein. A partner at Baker & Hostetler in Philadelphia, Goldstein helps health care systems, universities and energy companies navigate the chaos that follows a cybersecurity incident — investigating what happened, containing the threat and guiding clients through regulatory and communications challenges so they can get up and running. She enjoys the mix of strategy and technical problem-solving the work demands, from understanding how threat actors operate to advising clients on how to respond to regulatory inquiries. Her interest in the field began at Drexel’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law. During a co-op in the Office of General Counsel at the University of Pennsylvania, she researched emerging regulations such as the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act and early state data-breach notification laws.

“Drexel's rigorous academics — especially the health law concentration — gave me a strong foundation and the confidence to develop a specialty in health care data privacy and cybersecurity.”
Sara Goldstein

The experience introduced her to the growing intersection of health care, privacy and cybersecurity. It was what propelled her career forward, and to this day, she says, she remains closely tied to her Drexel classmates and professors; she believes the Kline School has built a community that is truly unique, one that has served her well and has much to offer aspiring law students.

In her own words…

My Greatest Accomplishment:

Having been elevated to partner at Baker & Hostetler at age 34. It represents years of hard work and a commitment to delivering excellent results for clients. Earning that trust and responsibility so early in my career is something I’m incredibly proud of.

How Drexel Shaped My Path:

Drexel shaped my career path in countless ways. The rigorous academics — especially the health law concentration — gave me a strong foundation and the confidence to develop a specialty in health care data privacy and cybersecurity. The faculty were genuinely invested in my growth, and several professors remain important mentors to me to this day. The classmates I met at Drexel have become lifelong friends who continue to enrich both my personal and professional life.

Where I Hope To Be in Five Years:

I see myself expanding my leadership role within the firm while continuing to help grow a strong, cutting-edge practice. I aim to further develop my reputation as a preeminent expert in cybersecurity and healthcare data privacy, helping clients navigate increasingly complex regulatory and risk landscapes. I also want to contribute to shaping the firm’s strategic direction and strengthening key client relationships. A central part of that vision is mentoring law students and new lawyers to develop the next generation of talent. DM
