My Greatest Accomplishment: I was awarded the 2020 Craig M. Perry Service Award by the Young Lawyers Division of the Philadelphia Bar Association for my charitable work, which was a tremendous honor. It felt incredible to be recognized for something so important to me, and it was such a great opportunity to share the work of the Kisses for Kyle Foundation, an organization that supports families facing pediatric cancer in the greater Philadelphia area (where I’m a member of the board and a volunteer), and to talk about some of the work I’ve done with nonprofits based in Chester.
How Drexel Helped Me: It’s not an exaggeration to say that Drexel shaped the entire course of my life, both personally and professionally. I was very involved in the pro bono program at Drexel, and I found my career path through it. I work in law firm pro bono, which is an industry that I truthfully didn’t even know existed when I initially enrolled at Drexel. On a personal level, I’ve made some of my closest friends at Drexel and I regularly connect with former classmates and other alumni; for example, I’m now involved in the LGBTQ Bar Association of Philadelphia because of my connection with Stephen Kulp, another member of the class of 2013.
My Greatest Source of Motivation: My nieces, my nephew and my daughter Piper Ruth. It has been tremendously rewarding to share the importance of community engagement and volunteer work with my young nieces and nephew, who are always so excited to hear about what I’m doing in the community and who have become my biggest cheerleaders. I’m already looking forward to involving Piper as she grows up.
Where I Hope to Be in Five Years: I hope to still be working in pro bono and corporate social responsibility, and involved with local nonprofits.
If My Life Were a Music Video, the Song Would Be: “Man in the Mirror” is an amazing reminder to us all that we can and should be making the community a better place.
