Practice What You Teach

Drexel’s College of Nursing and Health Professions recently opened a 23,000-square-foot faculty practice called Parkway Health & Wellness in the Three Parkway Building in Center City.

The facility is open to the public and provides clinical services ranging from primary care to behavioral counseling and physical therapy. It accepts major health insurance plans for most services, including physical therapy. For services less commonly covered by insurance, clients pay based on a sliding fee scale. Services are provided by doctoral and professional student trainees under the supervision of experienced Drexel faculty.

The faculty practice format, common to medical schools, allows faculty to practice their clinical skills and students to gain valuable clinical experience through supervised practice with patients.

Integration with research is also a major part of the vision for the site. Parkway Health & Wellness is co-located with new Drexel nursing and health professions research labs, providing faculty and students opportunities to translate new findings into clinical practice. Individuals interested in seeking servcies can call 215.553.7012.
